maurizio pecoraro ss 2011

i don't know how he did it, but maurizio pecoraro included everything one could possibly want from a spring/summer wardrobe into a single collection while keeping it entirely cohesive. he did prints, nudes, whites, bright colors, textures, long and flowy, short and flirty, and even his own rendition of a little black dress. i thought everything was impeccably done, and i found it so cool that this collection could practically be a complete wardrobe for every occasion. the way he did bright colors was tasteful and classy without losing that sense of fun, his prints were luxurious but not gawdy, and the clothing shapes would look good on most female forms regardless of size. i think it's awesome that he wasn't just designing with slender 6 ft. models in mind. this show was a giant win in my book. i would love to have some of these pieces and get to style them according to my own aesthetic.

here are my favorite looks and below the pictures you can see my video of the show:

  4. It's funny because while this collection offers plenty to appease my typical style aesthetic, it's the prints and long dresses that I'm swooning over. I'm not usually a big fan of either on myself but this collection is turning me into a believer! Loved your video! xx

  5. so so glad you guys are liking the show!

@brooke - i know what you mean, i'm not very big on prints and long dresses either. it's very difficult for me to find prints that don't make me cringe, but i thought these were exquisite. and long dresses look so fussy and for a casual outfit, but these look like they would be comfy and chic, not a difficult thing to wear at all. would so love to own one!

  8. This is so gorgeaous because it is so not over the top! I usually hate print stuff because of the huge patterns or oddness of the patterns.

Chic, elegant and understated, me likey!xx

  12. @lady noix - you never, ever have to apologize to me for having had a few martinis. in fact, you should start apologizing if you haven't had them. =P

@samantha - i'm like you too, i don't wear a ton of bright colors. i've been trying to branch out more, but i find so many brightly colored things that just look tacky or garish. but i would wear almost any of the bright colors he did in this collection too.

@lee - yay to find a fellow maurizio pecoraro fan!

  18. Those big floppy hats are so fabulous, they remind me of Southern Belles and mint juleps on the veranda... Thanks so much for posting the fashion show videos. I have never been to one so I love getting the chance to see them. I actually just got an invitation to my first runway show - Claire Pettibone's bridal collection :) Her dresses make me drool. I scored a media pass for being a blogger...how cool right!??!

  21. @ballet news - the blue and yellow one is my favorite of the colorful outfits as well. =)

@allison - i know being a blogger rocks! =P that's the reason i got my invites as well. did you take pictures of the bridal collection, i'd love to see it.

@sweet - glad you love it darling. i'm so excited people are enjoying his collection as much as i am.

@c'est freak - yes, i agree. it's totally whimsical without losing it's chicness, which to me is very important. no one wants to walk down the street looking like a clown, and no one wants to look boring either. this collection has a wonderful juxtaposition of both. =)

  23. Oh, gorgeous and very fun looking! I love that it is not trying too hard to be "cutting edge" (which often comes out as just ugly) and it looks unique and organic.
